KPV

Overview

KPV is a tripeptide corresponding to the C-terminal end of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). Despite its small size, it has been studied for anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity independent of alpha-MSH's pigmentation-related effects, making it a frequent subject of gut-inflammation and immune-signaling research.

Research Context

KPV research is concentrated in inflammatory bowel and immune-modulation models, where it has been studied for its proposed ability to inhibit pro-inflammatory cytokine signaling (such as NF-κB pathway activity) at a much smaller molecular size than the full alpha-MSH peptide. It is frequently referenced alongside other inflammation-research compounds such as ARA-290.
